Narendra Nagar is a natural panoramic place located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level in the middle Himalayas in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state, which also plays an important role from the historical point of view. Narendra Nagar is located just 15 kilometers away from Rishikesh, a religious pilgrimage city and the entrance of the Himalayas, 75 kilometers from the district headquarter Tehri Garhwal and 60 kilometers from the state capital Dehradun. In view of the local need, Government College Narendra Nagar was established in the year 2006 and classes started in the college with only five students in the Faculty of Commerce (B.Com). In the year 2014, Bachelor of Arts (BA) was started with five subjects (Hindi, English, Political Science, Economics and History). From the session 2016-17, B.Sc, M.Com, and professional courses like BA-Tourism are being conducted. From the session 2017-18, another vocational subject journalism has been started in the Faculty of Arts and from the session 2019-20, B.Sc. Home Science has been started. The college has been affiliated to Sridev Suman University Badshahithol, Tehri Garhwal for all the subjects in graduation and post graduation from the session 2018-19. The college is covered under List 2(f) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. From the year 2022, the college is moving towards progress by conducting B.C.A. and B.B.A. professional courses.
